Below are a few photos from the process of exhibition and the night of.
This video was created through a project called Oral History. In this project we were set out to interview someone related to us. In my case I choose my mom. I asked her about my grandma and how she got small cell cancer. Listen below!
In Biology we created a health plan that we followed for a whole month! In this project we where aiming to prevent the disease we investigated. I investigated Small Cell Cancer, which my grandma had.
In art we had a project called Pieces in Me. In this project we were to create a painting of ourselves but photshop it to add different parts of our personality in it. You can add in what your dream job is, your favorite sports, your personality, anything at all! In my pieces of me you see my face on a turtle. The reason why I choose to put it on a turtle was because it represents my love to animals, especially in the ocean. The turtle is placed in the ocean (the natural habitat.) The ocean background shows my interest in biology and a potential job in the future.
“Artist Statement”
Our piece strives to display two different cancer causing, and preventing lifestyles. On the left side, and half of the body you can see different preventative lifestyle choices and their effects on the body. On the right side, and half of the body you can see different cancer causing lifestyles as well as their effects on the body. Around each body you can see these different lifestyle choice which include nutrition, and exercise. Since cancer has no 100% cure, the best most people can do to help prevent it is solely to diet and exercise properly. There is actually science which backs up this preventative method. There are some compounds in vegetables that have been shown to have an effect of blocking different cancer pathways. While diets that are very high in meat and saturated and milk fats have been proven to increase the chances of getting cancer. On the left side you can see things like vegetables, fruits, for a proper diet, and soccer for exercise. On the right you can see things like smoking which cause small cell cancer. As well as junk foods, and alcohol which can cause other types of cancers. Our goal ultimately with this piece is to have anyone who sees it to compare their lifestyles to the one’s depicted and hopefully change the choices they make regarding their body for the better.

Reflection:
In my exhibition we were assigned different rotations. One of my rotations was about a healthcare poster, that I knew nothing about. I only had one day to learn all the information about the poster and it was stressful but I manage to learn it all. Throughout exhibition I helped wherever it was needed. First I started in the name tag and info cards group. In this group I help create and laminate the name tags for all the students. After I finished creating and critiquing them I moved to the art room. In the art room I help finish one of the four posters about health care. I achieved so many tasks and projects throughout exhibition and I am most proud of being the painter of my group piece. I wasn’t fully sure that I would be able to pull it off and make it look good, but I did, and that’s why I am so proud. Exhibition went pretty smoothly in my group but one lesson that I have learned to fix is to start things early and get it done faster even if you have to do more work than others.
